Our Products
What do you mean by "Artisan Boards"?
Our artisan boards are handcrafted by skilled artisans using one solid piece of wood, giving it natural live edges and beautiful and continuous grain patterns.
Artisan boards are truly one-of-a-kind, and no two are exactly the same.
Because of their beauty, they make for the perfect serving and charcuterie boards, and are perfectly safe to be cut on as well.
Which species should I select?
While all our hardwood are food-safe, naturally anti-bacterial, durable, and knife-friendly, each species has it's own twist.
Walnut
- Walnut is renowned for its beautiful and rich brown colour tones. It hides stains and knife marks well due to its dark colour. Being the least dense of our hardwoods, it is the most knife-friendly option.
Best for: Aesthetic appeal and knife friendliness. Perfect for modern and minimalist kitchens.
- Cherry wood has beautiful reddish tones that darken and age gracefully over time. It’s denser than walnut but less than maple, making it smooth, knife-friendly, and durable.
Best for: Ideal blend of beauty, durability, and ease-of-maintenance. Perfect for rustic and country appeal and its well-rounded attributes.
- Maple has a creamy whitish-yellow hue to it. Denser than walnut and maple, it is extremely smooth, low maintenance, and offers excellent durability.
Best for: Professional kitchens and heavy use due to its durability, low maintenance, and hygiene.
- Olivewood is prized for it’s beautiful colours, unique grain patterns, and anti-bacterial properties. Olivewood’s extreme density gives it a silky-smooth finish and makes it resistant to stains and odours.
Best for: Charcuterie boards, utensils, coasters, display pieces, and aesthetic appeal.
Are your products safe?
Absolutely! All our boards are safe to be cut on and all our utensils are safe to cook and serve with.
All our hardwoods are naturally antibacterial, food-safe, durable, and knife-friendly.
After all, they are fruit-bearing trees!
Is your mineral oil food safe?
Yes. Our mineral oil is 100% food-grade and is used to hydrate wooden kitchenware.
Protection and hydration of your wooden kitchenware will make them last for years to come.
Are your boards smooth?
All our Walnut, Cherry, and Maple boards are sanded to 220 grit for a smooth finish.
Due to wood's grain structure and porosity, some species are naturally smoother than others.
Applying mineral oil creates a smoother surface for all species.
While all our boards are smooth, our olivewood products and maple boards will have the most smooth surface due to the tight grain structure and low porosity of olive and maple wood.
Walnut's grain may slightly rise when wet, resulting in a slightly peachy feel on the surface of the board. This is due to the walnut fibers raising up from the water because of walnut's more porous grain structure.
While this is perfectly safe and normal, we do perform an extra step in the sanding process, called water-pop sanding, in order to minimize these effects.
If you wish, you may quickly hand sand the walnut cutting board with 320 grit sandpaper to knock the fibers back down after the cutting board has fully dried.
How do I care for my products?
With proper maintenance and care, products will last for years to come.
- Clean: Do not put in dishwasher. Hand clean with soap and water.
- Protect: Apply mineral oil liberally once every 3-4 weeks or as needed. Simply apply oil onto product, let it absorb for at least 1 hour, then wipe off any excess. Oil more frequently in very dry environments.
- Maintain: Avoid storing in extreme temperatures. Avoid prolonged exposure in direct sunlight. Apply oil when seen to be excessively dry, rough, or discoloured.
